Vascular Compression of Medulla Oblongata by Non-Dolichoectatic Vertebral Artery

چکیده
Abstract Neurovascular conflicts are common in the posterior fossa and basal cisterns due to coexistence of important neural vascular structures. conflict arising from compression cranial nerves by pulsatile flow adjacent atherosclerotic arteries is well known associated with conditions like trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, glossopharyngeal neuralgia. The medulla be affected dilated tortuous (dolichoectatic) vertebrobasilar elderly or hypertensive. vertebral artery causing can dolichoectatic normal dominant an elongated artery. Very few cases medullary non-dolichoectatic were reported literature. In this article, we report three angulated Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging MR angiography showed indentation anterolateral aspect inferior patients managed conservatively on regular follow-up.

Opalski syndrome caused by vertebral artery compression of the lateral surface of the medulla oblongata.
A 55-year-old man presented with vertigo, nystagmus, and gait ataxia followed by left hemiparesis (Opalski syndrome). T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging revealed vascular compression of the left lateral side of the medulla oblongata by the left vertebral artery. On diffusion tensor imaging, the level of fractional anisotropy (FA) in the left corticospinal fibers caudal to the pyramidal decu...
متن کاملVertebral artery compression of the medulla.
BACKGROUND Intracranial arteries in the subarachnoid space may compress the brain parenchyma and cranial nerves. Most arterial compressive lesions have been attributed to dolichoectasia in the vertebral-basilar system, and prior reports have concentrated on the pressure effects of basilar artery ectasia. Much less is known about vertebral artery compression of the medulla. OBJECTIVE To descri...

F. W., a boy of 8 years of age; there was some evidence of phthisis in the family history. His mother attributed the illness to a fright twelve months ago, when the boy became afraid to go to bed by himself. After a short time he began to vomit constantly every morning, the vomit consisting of altered food. He attended for a few. weeks as an out-patient, and then was admitted into the Hospital,...

Brain pathways controlling arterial pressure are distributed throughout the neuraxis and are organized in topographically selective networks. In this brief review, we will focus on the medulla oblongata. The nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) is the primary site of cardiorespiratory reflex integration. It is well accepted that lesions or other perturbations in the NTS can result in elevations of ...
متن کاملBacterial abscess of the medulla oblongata.
Isolated brainstem abscess, specifically, medullary abscess, is rare and often fatal. Diagnosis requires appropriate imaging and a high degree of clinical suspicion. Good outcomes are possible. A 69-year-old woman presented with an isolated medulla oblongata abscess that manifested as a syndrome of rapidly progressive multiple cranial nerve palsies and decreased level of consciousness. Microneu...
